The Malone Scholarship Fund at College Now Greater Cleveland
The Malone Scholarship was started by Jimmy Malone 1993. His daughter, Angela Malone, and April Malone help him maintain the scholarship and mentor the students. It is managed by College Now Greater Cleveland, a 501c3 corp .
The college scholarships are awarded to students with financial need who have a positive outlook on life; and who have been accepted at an accredited college. With the support of generous donors and sponsors, 63 students were awarded the scholarship in 2021. To date, over 300 students have been helped by the scholarship program. Jimmy is very proud of the diverse group of students who receive the 4 year scholarships. There are no restrictions on race, religion, politics, etc. The scholarship is available to students who graduate from high schools in Cuyahoga, Lake, Medina , Summit and Lorain county.
In addition to financial support, Jimmy spends a great deal of time mentoring and supporting the students. Campus visits, frequent phone calls, texts and e-mails are a crucial part of the scholarship program. The Malone scholars have a graduation rate of approximately 85% and the majority of the students graduate on time.
